UK Content Awards 2024 WINNER: Best Content Series
City Harvest is a non-profit organisation based in London, that rescues surplus food from businesses and delivers free food for 1.2m meals a month to over 375 community partners, including food banks, schools, community centres and youth groups. However, we are so much more than that – we are our people.
We wanted to express our deep appreciation for our drivers, recognizing their indispensable role in our mission. Our team has such unique humour, wit, and charisma – we wanted to find a format that made them shine. We firmly believe that working in a charity requires a distinct personality and we cherish the unique stories everyone brings. This series captures the relationship between City Harvest drivers & our charity partners, which we know is a huge part of our charity USP. We want our audience to get to know our drivers, see the passion they have – as it is everything we are. In turn, we aim to boost engagement and traffic.
We love to storytell to raise awareness of our organisation’s mission & show the value of our drivers’ social impact.
The series was well-received from the start, with Jose’s episode garnering the highest engagement. Jose is Brazilian and loves what he does – he is such a bright light. His episode allowed his family & friends back home to gain insight into his life in the UK, fostering significant engagement. All the people who have been on Jose’s van give great feedback and celebrate him.
This project will be at the centre of a special celebratory ‘10 years of City Harvest’ stakeholder event in September, dedicated to honouring our drivers & what makes us different to other food charities.
