Pennies for Plates
Pennies for Plates
is an inspiring new initiative combining the joy of dining with the power of giving. Green Michelin-star chef, sustainability advocate and founding City Harvest Food Council member, Chantelle Nicholson and her Mayfair restaurant Apricity, launches Pennies for Plates, a London-wide fundraising campaign to support City Harvest London and its food rescue and delivery operation.
Each year in London, Half a million tonnes of edible surplus is wasted while 1 in 4 Londoners are hungry. Pennies for Plates is a unique opportunity for London restaurants and cafes to have a significant impact on food waste and food poverty in our capital.
How does Pennies for Plates work?
Throughout November 2024, restaurants participating in Pennies for Plates will add 25p per head to customers’ bills—just a few ‘pennies’ for every meal. This contribution will go directly to City Harvest London, London’s original food redistribution charity dedicated to rescuing surplus food and tackling food poverty.
