Dulwich College chose to support City Harvest at their Charity Summer Ball, raising funds for an incredible 100k meals.

City Harvest delivers free food to over 375 charities across London every week. At a time when 1 in 4 children miss meals, and 1 in 3 parents don’t eat in order to feed their children, this support is needed more than ever.

Will Beckett, coincidently, is on the City Harvest Food Council and was delighted to discover his children’s school was supporting City Harvest.

Headmaster, Dr. Joseph Spence, explains why Dulwich College chose to support City Harvest,

“Everyone at Dulwich College was immediately taken by the work of City Harvest. It was a unanimous choice!

Supporting City Harvest builds on our work in the fight against child food poverty in Southwark, which began during the pandemic.

We love the simple direct action of the City Harvest model of intervention. Making an immediate difference.

Our pupils and staff are motivated by the mantra that everyone – but especially children – deserves the chance to thrive rather than simply survive.

We love being a small part of a solution that gets the right food to the right places at the right times. The relationships City Harvest builds with those they support is so important.

The wonderful can-do spirit on the evening of our Summer Ball, and the generosity of so many of our guests, were proof of how quickly the College community has embraced the work of City Harvest. We were delighted that Laura and Stephen Winningham joined us and many people at Dulwich want to do more now to support this exceptional charity.”

The City Harvest team is hugely appreciative as support such as this ensures we can continue doing what we do best – feeding people.

“The incredibly compassionate Dulwich College community generously supported City Harvest this year.  We’re so deeply grateful and will use these funds to support families and individuals in need throughout Greater London.   We’re proud of our partnership with Dulwich College, which includes City Harvest illustrating to students the importance of committing part of one’s life to the benefit of others.” Steve Winningham, Chair of City Harvest London.
